Labor & Delivery RN Requirements
- Active RN license applicable to Kentucky
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum of two years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Strong maternal and fetal assessment skills
- Experience monitoring fetal heart rates, contractions, and maternal vital signs
- Experience administering medications, treatments, and IV therapies
- Ability to recognize and respond to maternal or fetal emergencies
- Strong clinical-documentation and patient-education skills
- Effective communication and interdisciplinary teamwork abilities
- Compassionate and family-centered approach to patient care
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to Labor & Delivery patients during the night shift.
- Complete comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments.
- Monitor fetal heart rates, contractions, maternal vital signs, and changes in condition.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and prescribed treatments.
- Assist physicians during labor, delivery, and related procedures.
- Provide antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum nursing care as assigned.
- Recognize and respond promptly to maternal or fetal emergencies.
- Prepare patients and equipment for labor, delivery, and other procedures.
- Educate patients and families about labor, delivery, recovery, and newborn care.
- Maintain complete and accurate clinical documentation.
- Coordinate care with physicians, nursery staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Follow all medication-safety, infection-control, and facility procedures.
- Perform additional nursing duties as assigned.
