Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) – Long-Term Care Pharmacy
Location: Roanoke, VA
Pay Range: $145,000 – $150,000 annually + performance bonus
Schedule:

About the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) Role
Crown Staffing is seeking an experienced Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for a long-term care pharmacy in Roanoke, VA. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily pharmacy operations while actively participating in order review, verification, and dispensing.
This position is ideal for a proactive leader with long-term care and management experience who thrives in a fast-paced, start-up environment. The PIC will report directly to the Director of Pharmacy Operations and play a key role in shaping pharmacy operations, quality standards, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations
- Serve as a working leader by actively reviewing, verifying, and dispensing medication orders
- Evaluate medication orders for appropriate drug selection, dosage, interactions, and administration
- Ensure medications are accurately prepared, labeled, and delivered in a timely manner
- Communicate with nursing staff, physicians, and facility teams regarding medication-related issues
- Make clinical recommendations and therapy changes when appropriate
- Supervise, support, and train pharmacy staff, fostering accountability and teamwork
- Maintain controlled substance logs and ensure medication security
- Maintain and update patient profiles, including medical history and clinical data
- Investigate and resolve medication-related questions and discrepancies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and prepare for audits and inspections
- Perform on-call duties as required
Qualifications & Requirements
- Active Virginia Pharmacist license in good standing (required)
- 5–10 years of pharmacy experience (hospital, retail, or long-term care)
- Long-Term Care pharmacy experience strongly required
- Previous management or PIC experience required
- Experience with pharmacy start-up operations preferred
- Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently
- Computer proficient; FrameworkLTC / ECM experience a plus
