Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) Job Details
Radcliff, KY
Pay: $55.00/hour
Schedule Options:
- Friday – Sunday | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Saturday – Monday | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Position Type: 13-Week Contract
Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- BSN preferred
- Current BLS certification required
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (RN-BC) preferred
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred
- Previous psychiatric, behavioral health, or adolescent mental health experience preferred
- Strong critical thinking and assessment skills
- Ability to remain calm and effective during crisis situations
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach to care
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and mental health assessments upon admission and throughout treatment
- Monitor patients for symptoms of psychosis, self-harm, trauma, substance use, and behavioral concerns
- Provide crisis intervention and utilize trauma-informed de-escalation techniques
- Administer psychotropic medications and monitor patient responses
- Document medication effectiveness, side effects, and patient progress
- Maintain a safe therapeutic environment while following observation and safety protocols
- Implement behavioral management strategies and therapeutic interventions
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, coping strategies, and discharge planning
- Respond appropriately to psychiatric emergencies and changes in patient condition
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation
- Follow all facility policies, regulatory requirements, and professional nursing standards
